Lisowski Named NEWMAC Co-Pitcher of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 23, 2007) – Jimmy Lisowski of Springfield College has been named this week a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week. The sophomore left-hander from Warwick, Mass. is Springfield’s first NEWMAC Pitcher of the Week this season.

Lisowski is sharing the award with junior Chris McDonough of Wheaton.

Lisowski pitched in just one game this past week, but it was a beauty. He picked up his third victory in seven decisions when he fired a 4-hit, 1-0 shutout over MIT last Saturday. He gave up only four singles, walking three and striking out 11 in the 7-inning contest.

Lisowski has now lowered his overall ERA to 1.81 this season. In NEWMAC play, it is a miniscule 1.08. Overall, he has struck out 46, while walking only 12. In NEWMAC play, the ratio is even better. He has struck out 33, while walking only eight. He has given up only nine earned runs all year – in 44.2 innings. In NEWMAC-only play, he has given up just three earned runs in 25 innings pitched.

Jim is expected to get the start this Thursday when Springfield opens its NEWMAC playoff season on the road at MIT. Springfield will be trying to keep a good streak alive. SC is 8-for-8 in terms of advancing through the first round to the double-elimination portion of the tournament.
