

BABSON PARK, Mass., April 15, 2006 - Springfield College built a 7-3 halftime lead and did not allow a goal in the final two quarters on its way to a 15-3 win over host Babson College in a Pilgrim League men's lacrosse contest on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Pride improves to 6-4 overall and 3-1 in conference play, while the Beavers slip to 2-8 overall and 2-2 in the Pilgrim League.
SC took a 5-1 lead after one quarter, thanks to two goals apiece from seniors Taylor Brown (Portsmouth, R.I.) and Brandon Asplundh (Bryn Athyn, Pa.). The two teams then played evenly in the second quarter, but the Pride put the game away with eight unanswered scores in the second half, four in the third and four in the fourth, to secure the 15-3 win.
Brown led all players with four goals, while Asplundh added three scores. Junior Kyle Cloutier (South Hadley, Mass.) played the first three quarters and made seven saves for SC, while first-year Jason Farrell (Mahopae, N.Y.) stopped two shots in the final 15 minutes.
Sophomore Jason Wellemeyer, and first-years Matt Enright and Matt Harrington each recorded goals for Babson, while first-year goalie Max Owen finished with 18 saves in just over 51 minutes of play.
The Pride will next travel to Norwich University for yet another Pilgrim Lacrosse League showdown on Wednesday afternoon, April 19th, in a 3:30 p.m. contest.
