Men's Track and Field Places Third at Bowdoin

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – February 2, 2008 -- In a meet featuring some of the top teams in the region, the Springfield College men's indoor track and field placed third at Bowdoin, registering 86 points.

The meet consisted of Tufts, MIT, Colby, Bowdoin, and Springfield.

Nickel Hay placed second in the 55 meter dash in a time of 6.69 and sixth in the 200 meter dash in 23.57. Chris Okerbloom crossed the finish line in second in the 400 meter dash in 52.82 while teammate Chris Quetant finshed fifth in 53.63.

Placing fifth in the mile run was Brian Fuller (4:29.31) for the Pride. In the 600 meter run, Kevin Behlmer's time of 1:26.03 was good for fourth place and finished just before Tim Rehm, who finished in 1:27.45.

Mike Griffin won the 1,000 meters in a time of 2:31.75 while Dom Uguccioni took first in the weight throw with a toss of 55' 9 3/4". John Lewis finished second in the weight throw with a mark of 54' 1 1/4".

Wrapping up the day's solid performances was Mike Miller, as he tied for second in the high jump (6' 1 1/2") and finished second in the pole vault (13' 9").

Springfield returns to action when it participates in the Tufts Invitational on Friday.
