Men's Gymnastics Defeats Vermont And MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Feb. 12, 2005 - For the second time in seven days, Springfield College defeated University of Vermont and MIT in men's gymnastics. The Pride easily outdistanced the opposition with a score of 194.350, followed by Vermont (169.800) and MIT (165.175).
SC was again led by senior All-American
Nelson Jimenez (Salem N.H.), who finished first in the all-around competition (47.4) and on the horizontal bar (8.1). He won the same events on Feb. 6 in a tri-meet with MIT and Vermont in Blake Arena.
Sophomore
Scott Goff (Syracuse, N.Y.) came in first on the parallel bars with a (8.3), while junior
Andrew Malaby (West Warwick, RI) captured first on the rings (8.5) and junior
Shawn Fournier (Lewiston, Maine) won on the pommel horse (8.4).
The Pride returns to Blake Arena to play host to Division I Temple Sunday, Feb. 20. The men's meet will coincide with the SC women's meet against Southern Connecticut.
