Gable and Beebe Propel Men's Lacrosse To 12-8 Win Over Mass. Maritime

Buzzards Bay, Mass. - April 12, 2008 - Kyle Gable (Somers, Conn.) pumped in a game-high three goals to lead the Springfield College men's lacrosse team to a 12-8 victory over the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Pilgrim Lacrosse League action on Saturday.

Sophomore James Hitchings made 15 saves for the home squad, but it wasnt enough to stop the Pride as it moved to 3-0 in league play.

Brian Burke opened the scoring three minutes into the opening period with an unassisted effort to give MMA an early lead. Springfield bounced right back scoring six times to take a 6-3 lead after the opening 15 minutes. At the half the Pride held a 9-4 advantage.

Gable led the Pride offense finishing the afternoon with a hat trick Jake Beebe (Sudbury, Mass.) and Joe Heney (Plainview, N.Y.) each tossed in two goals for Springfield.

The Buccaneers were led by John Herman and Bryan Sears who also ended the day with two goals apiece.

Hitchings faced 27 shots from the pride in an outstanding defensive effort. Tom Albano (Ridgewood, N.J.) made eight saves for Springfield to pick up the win. The Pride held an edge off the face-off winning 21-of-24. Springfield outshot the Buccaneers 50-36.
