SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (January 13, 2007) – The Springfield College wrestling team managed to win once while losing twice today on the final day of the Budd Whitehill Dual Tourney at Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
Overall, Springfield, ranked #13 in the nation and #2 in New England Division III, was seeded 3rd in this prestigious tourney. SC finished 8th, however, as a team, the same result as a year ago.
In the day’s first dual-meet, SC defeated unranked Baldwin-Wallace College of Berea, Ohio, 28-15. In that match, SC led by as many as 19 points (28-9). Later, Springfield lost to 30th-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater, 32-12. In the last match of the day, because of injuries and as a precautionary measure, Springfield decided to forfeit to Case Western, a team it had beaten yesterday in the same tournament.
