

BABSON PARK, Mass., October 29, 2005 - Springfield College senior setter Alesia Vaccari (Winsted, Conn.) became the all-time leader in assists for the Pride as she racked up 26 this afternoon (OCt. 29) in SC's 3-0 sweep over Babson College in Babson Park. Vaccari now has 5,110 to date in her illustrious career, passing Jen Svatik's mark of 5,088.
SC finishes its regular season with a 25-7 overall record, and 7-2 mark in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), downing the Beavers in straight-sets (30-16, 30-16, 30-13). The Pride will next compete in the NEWMAC Tournament, hosting a first round match on Tuesday evening, November 1, at 7:00 p.m. SC's opponent for that first round match-up will be announced at a later time.
Junior outside hitter Jody Pfeifer (Northglenn, Colo.) recorded a team-best 10 kills in the win, as Vaccari compiled team-highs in assists (26), digs (12) and service aces (six). Senior opposite Ashley Reves (Orchard Park, N.Y.) added nine kills, five digs and two blocks for the Pride.
Joel Dearing will enter his 21st season as head women's volleyball coach at his alma mater in the fall of 2009. Dearing is regarded nationally as one of the sport’s best coaches and he has the resume to prove it. Dearing ranks in the top-10 in Division III history with a 670-298 (.692) overall mark in 28 seasons as a women’s volleyball coach.
