Marisa Clapp Finishes Fifth At Paul Short Invitational
BETHLEHEM, Pa., Sept. 28, 2002 – Springfield College junior Marisa Clapp (Charlton, Mass.) finished fifth to lead the Pride to a 18th place finish out of 33 teams at the Paul Short Cross Country Invitational this afternoon at Lehigh University.
Clapp, the top Division III finisher, ran a time of 21:14 in a field that included 221 of the top Division I, II, III runners in the region.
On the men’s side, Springfield College was paced by sophomore Steve Wilson (W. Hartford, Conn.) who finished 158th in a time of 27:38. The Pride finished 31st out of 33 teams at the event.

Jim Pennington enters his 26th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2009-2010. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
