SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — December 20, 2007 -- Three Springfield College soccer players were recently honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) as they were all named to the Division III All-New England Team.
Kayla Thibeault and Lauren Peltier picked up the honors on the women’s side, while Adrian Schippers was named from the men’s side.
Thibeault was named to the 2007 NSCAA/adidas NCAA Division III All-New England Region First Team, while Peltier was named to the Third Team. Schippers picked up Fourth Team accolades.
A native of Lebanon, Conn., Thibeault continued to make an impact in her second season for the Pride. Thibeault is one of the most decorated athletes on the team as the shutdown defender, and was a NEWMAC All-Conference First Team recipient for the second straight season. She chipped in with three goals and four assists this year.
A local product from Agawam, Mass., Peltier helped control the pace of the game for the Pride at the center midfield position. Peltier recorded six goals and a pair of assists this season, and led the team with four game-winning goals. She was also honored as a NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team pick.
A native of Ashby, Mass., Schippers was one of the Pride’s main offensive weapons in just his second year at Springfield. Last season’s NEWMAC Rookie of the Year, he recorded nine goals on the season, including three game-winning strikes. Schippers missed a good portion of the season with an injury, but was still honored for his outstanding play on the field, and was named a NEWMAC All-Conference First Team honoree.
