Andrew Constant Honored as NEWMAC Rookie of the Year

On Tuesday morning (May 2), freshman Andrew Constant was named NEWMAC Rookie of the Year as voted upon by the conference's coaches.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., May 2, 2006 – Andrew Constant of Springfield College has been named the 2006 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Rookie of the Year in men’s tennis.

A freshman from Kingston, N.Y., Constant was so named this morning at the annual NEWMAC post-season men’s tennis meeting. Andrew played number one singles and number one doubles for the Pride this season. No other freshman in the NEWMAC played at either number one or number two singles.

“It’s a well-deserved award for a great kid,” said Springfield head coach Jamie Morrell, who has just completed his second year at the helm. “Andrew is fairly quiet and unassuming, but on the court he really goes about his business. I’m really excited for him. It’s a good way to end the season, not only for him, but for the team. Andrew will certainly be one of our leaders next year.”
