SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - November 17, 2007 - The Springfield College women’s swimming and diving team topped visiting Wheaton College, 165-135, on Saturday afternoon at the Art Linkletter Natatorium.

Leading the way for the Pride in the meet was the trio of Emily Sheahan (Erin, N.Y.), Moira Price (Berkeley Heights, N.J.), and Michelle Reggio (Brooklyn, N.Y.). Sheehan picked up three first place finishes in the 1000 free (10:56.32), 500 free (5:21.70), and 400 IM (4:55.69). Price touched first in the 50 breast (31.45), 50 free (24.76), and 100 breast (1:07.90). Reggio continued her outstanding season in diving as she recorded national qualifying scores on both boards, registering a 255.08 on the 3-meter and a 257.17 on the 1-meter.

Also picking up victories on the day was Kallie Pottle (Brewer, Maine), who placed first in both the 50 back in 29.71 and the100 back in 1:02.22. Aimee Doe (Haverhill, Mass) touched first in the 50 butterfly as well in 27.70.

The Pride continued to simply dominate on the boards as well as it swept the competition. On the 1-meter, Reggio took first with a qualifying score of 257.17, while teammate Erin White (Glastonbury, Conn.) placed second with a national qualifying score of 249.98. Megahn Kijanka placed third with a score of 225.07. Melissa Nelson (Wallingford, Conn.) also qualified for nationals with a score of 259.64.

On the 3-meter board, White claimed first with a 252.30, followed by Nelson with a 244.57, and Janine DiGennaro (Middletown, N.Y.) placed third with a 211.35. Reggio recorded another qualifying score on the day with a 255.08 on the 3-meter board.

Springfield returns to action when it participates in the ECACs in East Meadow, N.Y. beginning on Friday, November 30.
