

KEENE, N.H - September 5, 2007 – Junior forward Alex Horne had two goals to lead the Keene State men’s soccer team to its first win of the season, a 3-0 non-conference shutout over Springfield College in Keene on Wednesday night. KSC improves to 1-2. Springfield drops to 1-2.
Horne’s goals, which gave KSC a 2-0 lead, came four minutes apart early in the first half. His first goal was set up after Mike Vitone won a head ball at the middle of the field. Horne’s second goal came after a fine passing play from Caleb Patterson and Mike Cooley. Scott Cluff scored on a rebound later in the half to make it 3-0.
Making his first college start, junior goalie Scott Panone finished with four saves to notch the shutout.
Springfield goalie B.J. Sturdivant turned aside nine Owl shots.
Springfield travels to take on Salve Regina on Saturday. Kick-off is slated for 1:00 p.m.
Only the seventh coach in a rich soccer tradition dating back to 1906, Peter Haley '77 G '78 will be entering his 25th season of coaching at his alma mater in the fall of 2009.
