Women's Lacrosse Falls, 16-7, To No. 20 Williams College

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., April 6, 2005 -- Springfield College junior forward Holly Carmody (Wayland, Mass.) and sophomore midfielder Lisa Thomas (Whitman, Mass.) each scored two goals, but it was No. 20 Williams College defeating the Pride, 16-7, in women’s lacrosse tonight at Benedum Field.

SC (4-3) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Thomas just 26 seconds into the contest, but the Ephs (4-2) tied the game just one minute later on Tara Boyd’s first goal of the contest. The Pride made it a 2-1 game on a goal by sophomore forward Heidi Eidse (Bryn Athyn, Pa.) with 23:07 to play in the first half before Williams went on a 9-1 run to end the half with a 10-3 advantage.

Williams opened the second half with a 5-1 run including three of junior Rachel Barr’s four goals in the game to lead 15-4 with 16:28 to play in the game. SC would score three of the games final four goals, but it was Williams holding on to defeat the Pride.

Freshman goalkeeper Kristin Vaccaro (Southington, Conn./Southington) recorded nine saves for the Pride, while Williams’ goalkeepers Ann Woods and Meghan Dwyer combined for five stops.
