

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. -- September 18, 2007 -- The Springfield College women's volleyball team rallied from two games down to down Smith, 3-2, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Tuesday evening. The win brings the Pride's record to 7-3, 2-1 on the season while the Pioneers fall to 2-5, 0-3 in conference play.
The Pride topped Smith in five games by the scores of 27-30, 25-30, 30-25, 30-20, 15-9.
For the second-straight game, freshman Bethany Stosz (Amherst, Mass.) was outstanding for the Pride. Stosz finished the match with 19 kills and eight blocks..
Jessica Baldwin (Fairport, N.Y.) continued her steady defensive play this season with 24 digs.The Pride return to action when it heads to Boston to participate in the M.I.T. Invitational this upcoming weekend.
Joel Dearing will enter his 20th season as head women's volleyball coach at his alma mater in the fall of 2008. Dearing is regarded nationally as one of the sport’s best coaches and he has the resume to prove it. Dearing ranks in the top-10 in Division III history with a 638-293 (.685) overall mark in 27 seasons as a women’s volleyball coach.
