SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (June 7, 2007) – Jessica Borsotti and Jimmy Lisowski of Springfield College have been named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-Americans (District I) by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Borsotti was named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American (District I) Second Team in the Women’s Cross Country/Track category. Lisowski was named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American (District I) Second Team in Baseball.

These two join three other Springfield College student-athletes who received similar accolades in the fall. They were senior midfielder Michelle Bongiovanni (West Springfield, Mass.), a physical education (health studies) major from the women’s soccer team; senior middle blocker MaryKathryn O’Neil (Liverpool, N.Y.), a psychology major from the women’s volleyball team; and senior wide receiver Brian Rose (Franklin, Mass.), a criminal justice major from the football team. Rose was named First Team, Bongiovanni Second Team, and O’Neil Third Team.

Borsotti, who hails from Northampton, Mass., is a physician’s assistant major from the women’s cross country and women’s track & field teams. Lisowski, who hails from Warwick, Mass., is an athletic training major from the baseball team. Earlier, they were also both named to the 2007 Spring New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Academic Team. Lisowski was also All-NEWMAC First Team as a pitcher. The lefthander had a sparkling 2.05 ERA for the Pride. Also earlier this spring, he was named the NEWMAC Pitcher of the Week.

In order to be even nominated, athletes were required to be upperclassmen and sport at least a 3.20 GPA. All five of the student-athletes listed above have GPA's well above that.
