Men's Soccer Drops 2-0 Decision At Brandeis
WALTHAM, Mass., Oct. 20, 2004 --- Brandeis University snapped a four-game losing streak today with a 2-0 win over visiting Springfield College in a non-conference men's soccer match on Gordon Field.
Brandeis (7-9) scored the only goal it would need in the 30th minute of play when senior back Joe Jorge came off the bench and put the ball into the right corner of the net. Brandeis made it 2-0 in the 71st minute when Adam Guttman crossed the ball in front of the net and sophomore forward Yuval Ezer Ezer headed it home.
SC (6-8-1) had a few good opportunities early in the second half, but the Pride could not convert.
The Judges outshot SC, 22-9, although the Pride owned a 7-5 edge in corner kicks.Brandeis goalkeeper Matt Kaplan made two saves for his first shutout of the season, while the Pride's David Minkoff (Oceanside, N.Y.), a junior, had six stops in the loss.
