Women's Lacrosse Drops 13-12 Heartbreaker to St. Lawrence in Double Overtime

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- March 21, 2008 -- St. Lawrence netted the game-winning goal with just three seconds remaining in double overtime as the Springfield College women's lacrosse team dropped a 13-12 heartbreaker on Friday morning.

The loss completes the Pride's trip in Florida as it went 1-2 over the week.

Springfield used some last second heroics of its own to push the game into overtime in the first place. Rachel Lampros found the back of the cage with two seconds remaining in regulation to push the game into extra frames.

The Pride trailed at halftime, 9-5, but outscored St. Lawrence 7-3 in the second stanza.

Lampros finished the game with a goal and two assists, while the duo of Erin Doolan and Alexandra Bazzano each tallied three goals in the loss. Kaeliegh Lannan and Nicole Flores each recorded a goal and an assist as well for Springfield.

Springfield will play its first home game of the 2008 campaign on Tuesday afternoon when it welcomes Keene State to Stagg Field. First draw is set for 7:00 pm.
