Young Leads Women's Cross Country At NCAA Regionals

CUMBERLAND, Maine, Nov. 13, 2004- Springfield College junior
Meg Young (Hurley, N.Y.) finished 46th out of 281 runners at the NCAA Division III New England Regionals hosted by Southern Maine.
SC finished 19th out of 41 teams. Middlebury won the meet.
Young covered the six-kilometer course in 23:30 to lead the Pride.
Suzie Snyder (Averill Park, N.Y.) crossed the finish in 24:47 to place 104th, and junior
Jessie Zaccaro (Washingtonville, N.Y) finished 110th (24:59).
Other SC runners included sophomore
Jackie Knoblock (Plymouth, Mass.), who was 129th (25:25), and freshman
Alyssa Brigham (Penacook, N.H.), who finished 141st overall (25:38). Junior
Sarah Tyman (West Suffield, Conn.) and sophomore
Maureen Ashe (Springfield, Mass.), finished in 176th place (26:32) and 184th (26:44), respectively.

Jim Pennington enters his 26th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2008-2009. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
