Springfield Student-Athletes Named to NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Teams

BABSON PARK, Mass.- October 31, 2007 -The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference announced its 2007 Academic All-Conference Teams on Wednesday and several Springfield College student athletes were honored.

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2007 spring semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference consists of 10 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

On the men's cross country team, Jeff Bartlett (West Newbury, Mass.) and Michael Griffin (Scarborough, Maine) were each chosen as all-academic team members, while women's cross country team members Jessica Borsotti (Northampton, Mass.) and Amanda DiPaolo (Garrison, N.Y.) were also honored with the accolade.

From the women's tennis team, Sarah Russo (Amsterdam, N.Y. ) and Jessica Sousa (Falmouth, Mass.) were each honored for their excellence in the classroom.

Head Coach Tim Losee

Head Coach Tim Losee Tim Losee ’05, G’07 was named the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Springfield College in August of 2009. A former four-year member of Springfield’s men’s tennis team, Losee returns to his alma mater to pilot both the men’s and women’s tennis programs. Read more.
