Men's Volleyball Opens Up Nazareth Invitational With a Pair of Wins
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – February 8, 2008 – The Springfield College men's volleyball team opened up the Nazareth Invitational with a pair of victories on the opening day against a pair of top-10 teams in the country on Friday. The Pride cruised past No. 7 Carthage, 30-26, 30-19, 30-27, before topping No. 9 Vassar in four games, 30-24, 31-29, 23-30, 30-25.With the two victories, the Pride, which is ranked second in the country in the latest AVCA/CSTV Coaches Poll, now stands at 8-1 on the season.
With the two wins, the Pride are seemingly in the driver seat to play in the Championship match of the Invitational. Springfield is the lone team in it's pool with a 2-0 record. SC will square off against No. 8 D'Youville at 10:00 am on Saturday morning.
