Price Wins Twice, but Women's Swimming Falls at Middlebury

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- December 8, 2007 -- Despite two wins from Moira Price, the Springfield College women's swimming & diving team lost a dual meet this afternoon to Middlebury College, 172-120, in Vermont.

Price, a junior from Berkeley Heights, N.J., was victorious in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:30.62), and in the 100 IM (1:03.57).

The Springfield College 400-yard freestyle relay team closed out the meet with a win in the time of 3:59.37. On that relay were senior Kelley Ockerbloom (South Yarmouth, Mass.), junior Elizabeth Belmont (Haverhill, Mass.), sophomore Lianne Nihan (Reading, Mass.), and senior anchor Emily Sheahan (Erin, N.Y.).

The SC divers had a great day, going 1-2-4-5-6 in the 1-meter, and 1-2-3-4-5 in the 3-meter. In the 1-meter, it was sophomore Michelle Reggio (Brooklyn, N.Y.) capturing first with a score of 245.55 points. That made the NCAA Qualifying "B" cut. Following Michelle were freshman Janine DiGennaro (Middletown, N.Y.) (237.98) in second, senior Melissa Nelson (Wallingford, Conn.) (220.35) in fourth, sophomore Meghan Kijanka (Methuen, Mass.) (212.10) in fifth, and junior Erin White (Glastonbury, Conn.) (206.03) in sixth. In the 3-meter, the following finished one through five -- White (247.20), Reggio (227.03), Nelson (225.98), Kijanka (204.68), and DiGennaro (194.25).

Today's competition concludes the schedule for the semester. Up next, Springfield will host Union and Hartwick on Saturday, January 12 at 1:00 pm in the Art Linkletter Natatorium.
