Dominick Uguccioni: Men's Track and Field
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- April 7, 2008 -- Dominick Uguccioni, a senior from Colrain, Mass., has been named this week's (Apr. 7) Male Maroon Athlete of the Week at Springfield College. A track & field All-American, Uguccioni was a key factor in Springfield's big victory in a quadrangular meet at Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vt. this past Saturday.As a team, Springfield finished with 283.50 points, besting Bowdoin (203.50), Middlebury (93), and Colby-Sawyer (72).
Uguccioni won two events, including his specialty, the hammer, with a toss of 176-3 (53.73 meters). Last May, at Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Dominick finished sixth in the nation at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships in the hammer.
Uguccioni also finished first in the shot put with a toss of 47-10 1/2 (14.59 meters). That toss allowed him to qualify for the New Englands.
