SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Nov. 19, 2005 – Springfield College sophomore Jake Tyler (Gouverneur, N.Y.) captured first in the 157-pound weight class, defeating Bridgewater State College’s Tom Hennessey, as the No. 8 Pride finished second out of 17 competing teams at today’s 16th-Annual Doug Parker Invitational, hosted by Springfield College.

No. 14 SUNY Oswego won the team title, finishing with 117.50 total team points. The Pride finished with 114.50 team points, and Roger Williams University rounded out the top three at 113.00 points. Oswego State’s Dane LaPlante won the 149-pound title to lead the Lakers to the team crown.

Norwich’s Mike Conlin was named the meet’s outstanding wrestler after winning the 141-pound title. Bridgewater State’s Hennessey had the most falls in the Invitational (three) in 4:36.

Other top performers for SC included sophomore Elliot Smith (Richville, N.Y.), who won the title at 184 pounds, and sophomore Greg Dussol (Amston, Conn.), who finished second in the 174-pound weight class.
