

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – February 2, 2008 -- The Springfield College women's indoor track and field placed third at the Tufts Invitational out of 14 teams, registering 72 points.
Nikki Hay opened up the meet with a seventh-place finish in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.61 and then placed fifth in the 200 meter dash in a time of 27.19. She also finished second in the long jump (17-00.50) and third in the triple jump (35-05.75 ).
In the 400 meter dash, Jenn McBride crossed the finish line in fifth in a time 1:02.36 while in the 600 meter run, Kristyn Meade placed eighth in a time of 1:41.10.
Amanda DiPaulo placed sixth in the 1000 meters (3:07.89) while the Pride's distance medley finished second in 12:46.59.
Kathryn Schumann finished fifth in the pole vault with a height of 7-06.00 for the Pride. Caitlin Breault recorded a fifth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 35-00.25.
Wrapping up the competition, Kelsey Bishop was victorious in the weight throw after she registered a distance of 45-11.25.
The Pride return to action on Friday when it competes in the Valentine's Classic.
Jim Pennington enters his 26th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2008-2009. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
