Lauren O'Connor Named NEWMAC Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - December 10, 2007 - Springfield College junior center Lauren O'Connor (Valhalla, N.Y.) has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week in women's basketball, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.

O'Connor was instrumental in the Pride's 72-61 win over Colby-Sawyer on Saturday afternoon. O'Connor recorded a double-double in the game as she poured in a team-best 18 points to go along with 13 rebounds.

The Valhalla, N.Y. native was a key reason why the Pride outscored the visitors 30-22 in the paint during the game. She went 7 of 14 from the field en route to 18 points and snagged a pair of steals in 31 minutes of action.

The Pride return to action on Thursday when it hits the road to take on Union. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 pm.
