

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., November 10, 2005 - Springfield College senior opposite Ashley Reves (Orchard Park, N.Y.) has been selected to the third-team of the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America District I Team, as voted upon by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Reves, a graduate of Orchard Park High School, is an Academic All-America District I honoree for the second-straight season. The senior tri-captain has excelled over her four-year tenure at SC both on and off the court. In the fall of her senior year, Reves has accumulated a 3.506 cumulative grade-point-average (GPA) as a Sports Management major on campus.
In her four seasons at SC, Ashley Reves, who resides in Orchard Park, N.Y., has accumulated an impressive career total of 1,604 kills, good for second on SC’s all-time list. Reves passed former Pride standout, Robin Chase (1997-2000), in her last career match at SC, recording 19 kills in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Semifinals against the Coast Guard Academy.
This season, Reves finished the year ranked fifth in the NEWMAC in kills per game (3.63) and sixth in overall hitting percentage (.245). Reves was named to an impressive five different All-Tournament Teams throughout the course of her senior season at SC; at the SC Invitational, the Johnson & Wales Invitational, the Bates Invitational, the MIT Invitational, and the Volleyball Hall of Fame Invitational.
Joel Dearing will enter his 21st season as head women's volleyball coach at his alma mater in the fall of 2009. Dearing is regarded nationally as one of the sport’s best coaches and he has the resume to prove it. Dearing ranks in the top-10 in Division III history with a 670-298 (.692) overall mark in 28 seasons as a women’s volleyball coach.
