Spiro Named to Jewish Sports Review All-America Team

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - July 11, 2008 - Springfield College Danielle Spiro was recently named a First-Team Jewish All-American by the Jewish Sports Review.

A junior from South Windsor, Conn., Spiro appeared in every game for the Pride as its designated player. She owned a batting average of .355 this season, third best on the team.

She registered 55 hits, 18 runs scored, and 19 RBI. In the NEWMAC Tournament, the junior batted a team-best .500 as she helped the Pride advance to the NCAA Tournament.

She was previously honored this season as a member of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference Second Team.

Head Coach Julie Perrelli

Julie Perrelli Julie Perrelli was been named an Assistant Professor of Physical Education and Head Softball Coach at Springfield College in June of 2009. The head softball coach at Smith for the past three years, Perrelli received both her doctorate (this past May) and her masters in 2004 from Springfield College, where she served as a graduate assistant for the Pride from the 2003 through 2006 seasons.
