SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 20, 2007)Eileen Jenkins (Gorham, Maine) tallied the game-winning goal with 10:29 remaining in the first half as the Springfield College field hockey team topped Wellesley, 2-0, in a key New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday morning at Stagg Field.

The Pride added an insurance goal with 2:56 remaining as Kelleher slipped the ball past a charging Wellesley keeper Emily Hewitt to Becca Gamble (Granby, Conn.). Gamble slammed home the game’s second tally as she was all alone on the doorstep to put the Pride up 2-0.

Springfield returns to action on Tuesday evening in a non-conference matchup against Plymouth State. The game is slated for 6:00 p.m.
