Women's Gymnastics Splits in Tri-Meet at SUNY Brockport with Wilson College

BROCKPORT, N.Y., January 21, 2006 - Springfield College freshman Audrey Lastra (New Milford, Conn.) finished second overall in the all-around competition with a final score of 35.850 points to lead the Pride this afternoon at SUNY Brockport. SC finished behind the Golden Eagles of Brockport State, 182.475-180.650, but easily handled Wilson College, 180.650-150.800.

Pride sophomore Kristin Fairburn (Salem, N.H.) had a strong showing on the uneven parallel bars, finishing second overall with a score of 9.325. Senior Jillian Silverman (Ipswich, Mass.) placed right behind Fairburn on the bars, finishing in third place with a 9.025 score. Silverman also performed well in the vault competition with a score of 9.400, good for fourth place.

SC's highest finish in the floor exercise event came from senior Heather Tuden (Londonderry, N.H.), with a fourth-place finish (9.375). Freshman Alexandra Ploenes (Fletcher, N.C.) took home fifth place on the balance beam with a score of 8.775. The Pride's highest performer on the vault came from sophomore Jackie Mazzola (Framingham, Mass.), who scored a 9.525, which was good for a second-place tie.

SC is now 3-1 overall on the 2007 season and will next host Rhode Island College on Sunday afternoon, January 28th, in a 1:00 p.m. start in Blake Arena.
