Box Score

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - September 12, 2007 - The Springfield College men's soccer team rallied from trailing on two occasions to defeat Wesleyan, 3-2, on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Pride snap a two-game skid and improve to 2-3 on the season while Wesleyan falls to 0-2.

The Cardinals wasted no time scoring the opening goal when Austin Woolridge finished a corner kick into the back of the net at the 5:36 mark to give the home team a 1-0 lead. Reigning NEWMAC Rookie of the Year Adrian Schippers (Ashby, Mass.) tallied his first of two goals of the night off a feed from Tony Distasio (Burlington, Conn.) with less than 15 minutes left in the first half to knot the game at one goal apiece. Just under eight minutes later, the Cardinals regained the lead, this time when Mark Murphy tallied an unassisted goal.

The Pride tied the contest at two with a little under 10 minutes into the second half when Distasio registered his third goal of the season. With under 21 minutes remaining in regulation, Colin Cook (Wilbraham, Mass.) served a ball into the box and Schippers made no mistake as he headed in the game-winning goal.

B.J. Sturdivant (Bear, Del.) recorded six saves in the game for Springfield as both teams recorded 16 shots in the match.

The Pride return to action when it plays its first game of the 2007 season at home against conference-foe Babson at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
