Schippers Named NEWMAC Player of the Week in Men's Soccer

Adrian Schippers has been selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week after he led the men’s soccer team to a 2-0 week. With the two wins, the Pride evened its record to 4-4, 1-1 in NEWMAC play. The Pride has won three out of its last four and Schippers, the reigning NEWMAC Rookie of the Year, has been a catalyst for its success.

Schippers was also chosen as the Springfield College Male Maroon Club Athlete of the Week as well.

A native of Ashby, Massachusetts, Schippers netted all three of the Pride's goals last week. In the Pride's 2-0 win over MCLA on Sept. 18th, Schippers delighted the home crowd with a pair of goals in the first half. On Saturday, Sept. 22, Schippers finished a breakaway at the beginning of the second half to provide the only scoring in Springfield's 1-0 win at Coast Guard.

For the year, the sophomore forward leads the team with 10 points off five goals, all of which have come within the last four games. In games where Schippers has scored this season, the Pride is 3-0.
