

WELLESLEY, Mass., September 6, 2006 – Springfield College freshman Kaitlynn Cates (Middlebury, Conn.) proved to be the lone winner for the Pride women’s tennis team as it fell to Wellesley College, 8-1, this afternoon in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opener for both squads.
Wellesley is now 1-0 overall and 1-0 in the NEWMAC. SC drops to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the NEWMAC.
Cates, a freshman from Middlebury, Conn., defeated Alex Lucas, 6-2, 6-3, of Wellesley at No. 3 singles.
Up next, the Pride hosts Wheaton College on Saturday, September 16th, at 1:00 p.m. at the Appleton Courts in another NEWMAC contest.
