SPRINGFIELD, Mass., March 23, 2004 – Springfield College’s Tim Goetz and Nelson Jiminez will compete at the 2004 NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Championships on April 2-4 at the University of Illinois.
The National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) announced that SC's Jenny Romano-Joseph and Larissa Tabin have qualified for the Divison III National Championships at MIT on April 2-3.
Goetz, a senior from South Plainfield, N.J., was a qualifier on the vault and the still rings. Jiminez, a junior from Salem, N.H., will compete on the vault.
Twelve Division I teams, including defending national champion Oklahoma and host Illinois, qualified for the team competition. The top-six competitors in the five events (all-around, floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings and vault) from non-qualifying teams were also invited to the NCAA Championships.
The national qualifier, which consists of two pre-qualifying sessions, will be conducted April 2 at Illinois’ Assembly Hall.
Three teams and the top three all-around competitors not on one of the qualifying teams, plus the top three individuals on each event not already qualified on a team or as an all-around competitor, will advance from each pre-qualifying session to the finals session. Final competitions will take place April 3-4.
On the women's side, Romano-Joseph, a senior from Shutesbury, Mass., is an NGCA nationals qualifier on vault, and Tabin, a sophomore from Holyoke, Mass., will compete in the floor exercise.

At the same meet, Tabin tied for fourth place in the floor exercise, and event that she is ranked 10th nationally (9.6125) in.
