SPRINGFIELD, Mass., October 8, 2005 – Springfield College junior forward Annemarie Goodwin (Springfield, Mass.) scored her second goal of the season off a header in the 76th minute of action (75:01) as the Pride nipped Babson College, 1-0, on a rainy Saturday afternoon, October 8, in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play in Springfield, Mass.

Junior midfielder Jessica Denehy (Whately, Mass.) set up Goodwin for the game-winner as she received a long ball into the right corner of the field near Babson’s goal. Denehy then made a perfect cross to Goodwin, as she headed it past Beaver goalie Marci McCormack for the 1-0 advantage.

That would be all the Pride needed, as sophomore keeper Amanda Petri (East Granby, Conn.) recorded her second shutout of the season en route to SC’s sixth overall win and third conference victory. The Pride improves to 6-4-2 overall and 3-1 in the NEWMAC. SC has won its past three matches, two of which have come on the road.

The Pride will look to make it four-straight as they next host Coast Guard in yet another NEWMAC match-up on Tuesday evening, October 11, at 7:00 p.m.
