Marisa Clapp Finishes 18th At National Championship

NORTHFIELD, Minn., Nov. 23, 2002 – Springfield College junior
Marisa Clapp (Charlton, Mass.) placed 18th out of 215 runners at the NCAA Division III Women’s Cross Country Championship this afternoon at St. Olaf (Minn.) College earning her All-America honors.
Clapp covered the six-kilometer course in a time of 22:13. This is the second consecutive season she has been named All-America after finishing in 12th place at last year’s NCAAs.
Wartburg (Iowa) College sophomore Miss Buttry won the race in a time of 20:17 with Williams College taking the team championship.

Jim Pennington enters his 26th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2009-2010. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
