PLYMOUTH, N.H., February 5, 2005 - Springfield College sophomores Mike DeCiccio (Cranston, R.I.) and Mike Gaeta (Manalapan, N.J.), each picked up three victories to lead the No. 8 Pride to a 3-0 record in a quad meet at Plymouth State, Saturday.
SC defeated No. 11 Johnson & Wales, 16-15, Plymouth State, 29-12 and Trinity, 32-9, to improve to 12-3 in dual meet competition this season.
Gaeta, ranked seventh in Division III at 141 pounds, improved his record to 27-6 this season with his three victories. DiCiccio ran his record to 13-8 with three wins at 149.
Freshman Jake Tyler (Gouverneur, N.Y.) went 2-0 on the day at 157 pounds to improve to 18-6 this winter. Ranked eighth in Division III, he defeated Johnson and Wales' Steve Martell, who is ranked fifth nationally at the weight class.
SC closes out the dual-meet portion of its schedule this Wednesday (Feb. 9) versus Montclair State at 7:30 p.m. in Blake Arena.
