

AMHERST, Mass. (February 9, 2008) – The Springfield College men's and women's swimming and diving team dropped its final non-conference dual meet of the season over the weekend at Amherst College. The men's squad fell 129.5-105.5 while the women's team dropped a 132-103 decision.
Brian Sobol registered national qualifying marks on both boards as he registerd a 282.15 on the three-meter board and a mark of 275.55 on the one-meter.
The Pride had just two swimmers win individual events as Roy Burch claimed first place in the 100 free with a time of 46.66 while Justin Zook touched first in the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:00.75.
Springfield will now prepare for the NEWMAC Championships that will begin on February 28.
John Taffe enters his 21st season in 2009-2010 as the head coach of the men's and women's swimming teams at Springfield College. Under Taffe’s leadership, the Pride has returned to its status as one of the best collegiate swimming and diving programs in Division III. Read more.
Peter Avdoulos is regarded as one of the top diving coaches in the nation, and will enter his 25th season as the diving coach for both the men's and women's programs in 2009-2010.
