Brown 48th At NCAA Championships
2003 NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championships
PHILADELPHIA, April 16, 2003-- Springfield College freshman
Ted Brown (Westfield, N.J.) finished 48th on the pommel horse at the NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championships held at the Liacouras Center on the campus of Temple University.
Brown, who earned ECAC Rookie-of-the-Year honors this season, advanced to the second round in the event after finishing 10th (9.100) in Friday's preliminaries. He scored 7.400 in the event on Saturday. The top eight finishers and one alternate advanced to Sunday's event final.
Brown was one of eight SC gymnasts to compete in the championship. In Friday's preliminaries, junior
Tim Goetz (South Plainfield, N.J.) finished ninth in the all-around (50.100) and 13th on the rings (9.100), and junior
Mike Smith (Salt Lake City, Utah) placed 12th in the all-around prelims (47.800). Other SC qualifiers were freshman
Shawn Fournier (Lewiston, Maine), senior
Mathieu Perry (Agawam, Mass.), sophomore
Nelson Jiminez (Salem, N.H.), senior
Dave Potucek (Shelton, Conn.), and sophomore
James Nixon (Somerset, N.J.).
