Men's Soccer Outlasts WPI, 2-1

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Oct. 9, 2004 - Springfield College freshman
Paul Lepak (Windsor, Conn.) tallied the match-winning goal in the second half as the Pride defeated WPI, 2-1, in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men’s soccer match this afternoon at Brock-Affleck Field.
The victory was head coach
Peter Haley’s 200th career win as the Pride won its third-consecutive match of the season.
SC initiated the scoring in the opening half when freshman
Pete Bianco (Patchogue, N.Y.) hit the back of the net in the 39th minute with an assist from junior
Justin Pepoli (Ashburnham, Mass.). Pepoli, the reigning NEWMAC Player of the Week, has notched a point in four consecutive matches.
Lepak scored in the 51st minute off of a feed from freshman
Colin Cook (Wilbraham, Mass.) to put the Pride up by two goals. The Engineers cut the deficit to one, when junior Matthew Young (Manchester, Conn.) scored in the 74th minute.
