

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – May 17, 2007 – Freshman Michelle Wlosek of Springfield College has been named a New England Softball Coaches Association Division III First Team All-Star for 2007.
A catcher from Nutley, N.J., Wlosek led Kathy Mangano’s Springfield College softball team to a very successful season. SC finished 25-14 overall, capturing its first New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference regular-season title in school history.
Wlosek earlier was named First Team All-NEWMAC. The impressive freshman led Springfield in numerous statistical categories, including batting average (.407), games played (39), games started (39), hits (50), home runs (9), RBI’s (44), total bases (86), slugging percentage (.699), walks (21), and on-base percentage (.490).
Michelle also committed just two errors in 143 chances. She finished with a .986 fielding percentage.
Wlosek was the only Springfield player to receive accolades from the NESCA.
Julie Perrelli was been named an Assistant Professor of Physical Education and Head Softball Coach at Springfield College in June of 2009. The head softball coach at Smith for the past three years, Perrelli received both her doctorate (this past May) and her masters in 2004 from Springfield College, where she served as a graduate assistant for the Pride from the 2003 through 2006 seasons.
