Gibbs Game-Winning Shot Featured on ESPNews
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – February 13, 2008 – Senior Jamaal Gibbs' game-winning 60 foot buzzer-beating shot against Clark University was aired on Tuesday evening on ESPNews.This marks the second time in the last year and four months that a Springfield College student athlete has been featured on ESPNews. Senior Chris Sharpe was an in-studio guest on ESPNews on Thursday afternoon, October 26th, at 1:35 p.m. He was on a show called the College Football Hotlist, and was interviewed by anchor Dari Nowkhah and Heisman Trophy winner Desmond Howard.
It is believed that Sharpe was the first Springfield College undergraduate student-athlete ever to be interviewed LIVE on national television.
Gibbs was also named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week on February 11th for his outstanding play in the Pride's last two games.
Gibbs' last second heroics in both of the Pride's contests helped lift Springfield to a 2-0 week, and a tie for third place in the conference. For the week, Gibbs averaged 14.5 points and 3.5 rebounds, shooting 47.8% from the field, while playing 36 minutes per game.
The senior captain from Norwalk, Conn. also provided key performances down the stretch in both games. In Wednesday night's, 61-60 win over MIT, Gibbs' three-point play with two seconds remaining gave the Pride the one-point victory. He finished with 11 points and four assists against the Engineers.
On Saturday, Gibbs' remarkable play down the stretch completed Springfield's comeback victory in double overtime against Clark, 90-87. For the game, Gibbs finished with 18 points, 16 of which came in the second half and overtime sessions. Gibbs hit a jumper in the lane as time expired in the first overtime to send it to a second extra frame. He then stunned the crowd, as he buried a 60-footer to beat the buzzer, sending SC to a 90-87 win.

Head Coach Charlie Brock
Charlie Brock in 2008-09 will enter his 11th season as the head coach at Springfield College. Brock’s achievements as a coach are certainly impressive, as he has taken three schools to the NCAA Division III Tournament and has an overall, 28-year record of 379-350 for a winning percentage of .519.
