Women's Tennis Loses Close Match At RIC, 5-4

PROVIDENCE, R.I., September 22, 2005 - Springfield College junior Heide Eidse (Bryn Athyn, Pa.) won at #6 singles in straight-sets, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2, and also teamed up with senior Angela Giles (Concord, N.H.) to pick up a victory at #3 doubles (8-5), but it wasn't enough as Rhode Island College edged the Pride, 5-4, in non-conference action this afternoon (Sept. 22) in Providence, R.I.

SC, which falls to 2-5 overall on the season and remains at 2-2 in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play, also received wins from junior Meghan Kelly (Queensbury, N.Y.) at #2 singles (6-4, 6-4), and senior Amy Domurad (Merrimack, N.H.) at #4 singles (6-2, 4-6, 10-3).

The Pride return home this weekend as it hosts Colby-Sawyer College on Sunday, September 25, in a 1:00 p.m. non-conference match at the Appleton Courts.
