Men’s Track & Field Sixth at D-III New Englands

MEDFORD, Mass., February 19, 2005- Led by second-place finishes from senior All-Americans Blake Gulino (Old Saybrook, Conn.) and Matt Acciaioli (Warwick, R.I.), the Pride took sixth place out of 24 scoring teams at the Division III New England Championships Saturday hosted by Tufts University.
Williams won the meet with 123 points followed by Tufts (108.50),Bates (77), MIT (67), Coast Guard (43.50), and SC (36.50) to round out the top six.

Gulino captured second place in the long jump with a leap of 22 feet, six inches. In the shot put competition, Acciaioli finished second and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships with a throw of 52 feet, four inches. Sophomore Alex Kampersol (Natick, Mass.) took fourth in the shot put with a toss of 50-8.

In the running events, junior All-American Billy King (Wilmington, Mass.) was second in the 400-meter dash (50.13) and freshman Joe DeBuc (South Hadley, Mass.) finished sixth in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.98 seconds.
