Samantha Rhodes: Softball
Samantha Rhodes has been chosen Springfield College's Female Maroon Club Athlete of the Week (Apr. 14) after leading the softball team to a 7-1 week as she dominated on the mound throughout the week for the Pride.For the week, the Mendon, Mass. native went 4-0 as she appeared in seven of the Pride's eight games. She had an ERA of 1.83 and held her opponents to a .183 batting average. In 30.2 innings of work, Rhodes struck out 24 batters and walked just three.
Rhodes' week was highlighted by a pair of outstanding performances on Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, Rhodes tossed her first collegiate no-hitter as she and the Pride needed just five innings to top the Pioneers, 10-0.
Her next outing on Tuesday, Rhodes threw a one-hit shutout as Springfield defeated visiting MCLA, 13-0, in five innings. In that game, Rhodes struck out five to lead the way.
She also picked up wins over the week against Bridgewater State and WPI.
