Men's Track and Field Competes in Tufts Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – February 18, 2008 – The Springfield College men's indoor track and field team competed in a non-scoring meet in Medford over the weekend at Tufts.

Steve Headley flew past his competition as he captured first in the 55-meter dash in a time of 6.42, while teammate Nickel Hay placed in sixth with a time of 6.74. Headley tied the all-time school record in the dash for the Pride with his time of 6.42. Hay also finished fourth in the 200-meter dash in a time of 23.48.

In the 800-meter run, Mike Griffin finished in second place with a time of 1:54.54, less than a second behind the first-place runner. With his impressive run, Griffin qualified for nationals.

The Springfield relays also had success as the 4x200 relay finished first in a time of 1:33.33, while the 4x400 relay placed third in 3:29.34.

Mike Miller continued his impressive performances this season as he captured the high jump with a mark of 6-7, qualifying for nationals, before finishing second in the pole vault with a height of 13-3.

Dom Uguccioni finished fifth in the shot put (45-5.75) and third in the weight throw (54-7.50). Teammate John Lewis recorded a fourth-place finish in the weight throw with a toss of 53-3.75.
