Trinity Hands Women's Tennis 9-0 Loss

Hartford, Conn. – October 11, 2007 -- The Trinity College women's tennis team handed the Springfield College Pride a 9-0 defeat this afternoon in women’s tennis action. The Bantams won by a 9-0 count, allowing no player on the Springfield roster more than two points in any of their singles matches.

First-year student Robyn Williams (Bulawayo/Zimbabwe) and junior Brenna Driscoll (Milton, Mass.), defeated their opponents in the No. 1 and No. 2 singles slots to lead the charge for the Bantams. The two also paired up to win the No. 1 doubles slot 8-2.

Sophomore Rachel Kushma (London, England) managed three points on the day in the No. 4 spot to lead the Pride. Senior Shannon Desroches (Belchertown, Mass.) and senior Jessica Sousa (Falmouth, Mass.) were competitive in the No. 2 doubles slot for Springfield, falling 8-4 to senior Sydney Meckler (San Francisco, Calif.) and sophomore Olivia Merns (New York, N.Y.).

Trinity is now 2-1 on the season, while Springfield drops to 2-7.
