Justin Pepoli (Ashburnham, Mass.) scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, as the Pride downed Clark University, 3-2, in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match this afternoon at Brock-Affleck Field.
SC struck first only 38 seconds into the match when Pepoli netted his fourth goal of the season from freshman
Stephen Croft (Red Hook, N.Y.). Clark surged back in the second half with goals from junior Daniel Hoffman and freshman David Blum. In the 83rd minute, SC freshman
Tony Distasio (Burlington, Conn.) equalized the game by drilling a ball that deflected off of a Clark defender and into the back of the net.
In the first overtime, SC freshman Pete Bianco (Patchogue, N.Y.) found a wide-open Pepoli in front of the goal, who tallied his team-leading fifth goal of the season for a Pride victory.
SC is back in action when it hosts Bridgewater State in a non-conference match on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at Brock-Affleck Field.
