

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., October 4, 2005 – Springfield College senior Angela Giles (Concord, N.H.) picked up victories at #6 singles (6-0, 6-0) and #3 doubles (8-6), but it was Mount Holyoke College that defeated the Pride, 7-2, in a New England Women and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match on Tuesday afternoon, October 4, at the Appleton Courts in Springfield, Mass.
Giles teamed up with junior Heidi Eidse (Bryn Athyn, Pa.) in picking up the #3 doubles win over Mt. Holyoke's Leah Ferrarone and Caitlin McCarrie. Then, at #6 singles, Giles continued with her winning ways with a clean sweep over McCarrie. Giles has played well as of late for SC, winning her past two singles matches. Junior Meghan Kelly (Queensbury, N.Y.) played a strong match at #2 singles, taking the first set 7-5, but was unable to hold on in 3 sets as
SC falls to 3-8 overall and 2-4 in the NEWMAC. As for Mt. Holyoke, the Lyons improve to 3-4 overall and 3-3 in conference play. The Pride will next travel to Babson for another NEWMAC match this Saturday, October 8th, at 1:00pm.

Tim Losee ’05, G’07 was named the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Springfield College in August of 2009. A former four-year member of Springfield’s men’s tennis team, Losee returns to his alma mater to pilot both the men’s and women’s tennis programs. Read more.
