Brittany Veazie Named NEWMAC Field Hockey Co-Player of the Week

NEWMAC Report (October 9th)

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., October 9, 2006 – Brittany Veazie of Springfield College has been named New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Co-Player of the Week in field hockey.

Veazie is sharing the honors this week with senior goalkeeper Mary Catherine Boll of Wheaton College.

A junior forward from Dexter, Maine, Veazie was a main reason why Springfield went 2-0 on the week with two conference shutout victories.

In a 6-0 win at Smith last Tuesday, Veazie scored three goals, including the game-winner, and added one assist. It was her top single-game performance of the year. Then in a 3-0 win at home last Saturday, Brittany had one assist.

All told, Veazie totaled three goals and two assists for eight points in two games. She now has eight goals and five assists on the season for the Pride, which is 9-3 overall and a still-perfect 4-0 in NEWMAC play.

In league stats, Veazie is tied for fifth in goals (eight), tied for fifth in assists (five), tied for fifth in points (21), tied for sixth in goals per game (0.67), tied for fifth in assists per game (0.42), and fifth in points per game (1.75).

Springfield next plays Tuesday night, October 10th at home when it hosts WPI at 7:00 p.m.
