

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., October 16, 2006 – Springfield College sophomore midfielder Jane Kelleher (Chatham, Mass.) scored four goals and added two assists for a total of 10 offensive points in a huge 3-0 week for the Pride field hockey team.
Last Tuesday (Oct. 10), Kelleher scored two goals to lead Springfield to a 3-0 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) victory over WPI. In a battle of two NEWMAC unbeaten teams, she scored two goals and added an assist in a 4-2 win over Wheaton College on Saturday (Oct. 14). On Sunday (Oct. 15), she assisted on one goal in a 3-1 non-conference victory over Ithaca. All three games were played at SC’s Benedum Field.
Kelleher now has 15 goals and four assists for a total of 34 points on the season. Her 15 goals rank her first in the NEWMAC in goals and her 34 points rank her second in the league. She also leads the conference in goals per game (1.0) and points per game (2.27).
The Pride has an overall record of 12-3 and is 6-0 in NEWMAC play. SC next travels to Mount Holyoke College on Tuesday afternoon, October 17th, in a 4:00 p.m. start.
After only five years as head coach of the Pride, Melissa Rogers, has continued the SC tradition of winning on the field hockey turf, posting an impressive 94-24 record, good for a winning percentage of .796 at the helm of her alma mater. Read more.
